Starting at Platrand Lodge, you’ll set off on a guided walk beneath the soft glow of the moon — where nature, history, and connection come together in a truly unforgettable way.

As you make your way along the route, a guest speaker will bring the past to life with captivating stories from the historic Battle of Platrand. Passing by monuments along the trail, you won’t just see history — you’ll feel it, step by step.

The journey ends in the most heartwarming way… gathered together under the night sky, sharing stories, laughter, and meaningful moments with family and friends. Here, you’ll be treated to traditional Ladysmith cake, refreshing ginger beer, and a comforting cup of hot chocolate — the perfect way to end a magical evening.

PlatRUN

Set against the breathtaking landscapes of Platrand, each route offers a truly beautiful and immersive experience through nature — from open fields and flowing streams to rugged mountain terrain and winding animal paths.

Saturday: Runners take on the challenging 21 km trail, pushing through diverse terrain including dams, bush, and elevated viewpoints. For those looking for a shorter yet equally rewarding experience, our scenic 11 km trail offers the perfect balance of beauty and enjoyment — without missing out on the adventure.
Sunday: The journey continues with a scenic 10 km route, allowing runners to recover while still enjoying the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Together, these two routes form the official Hoof & Horn Trail Challenge, where participants who complete both distances stand a chance to be crowned the overall trail run winner.

Voorlaaier MTB

Set against the same breathtaking Platrand landscapes, the MTB routes promise an exhilarating ride through diverse terrain — from flowing farm roads and open plains to technical sections, gentle climbs, and thrilling descents.

Saturday: Riders take on an adventurous 40 km route, testing endurance and skill across a variety of terrain.
Sunday: The challenge continues with a scenic 20 km ride, offering a slightly shorter but equally rewarding experience through the natural beauty of the area.

Together, these two rides form the official Hoof & Horn MTB Challenge, where participants who complete both distances stand a chance to be crowned the overall weekend winner.
