Our “Colonial restaurant” certainly caters for every pallet. With a menu that boast everything from good old red meat to something from the deep blue, you are sure to find something you fancy. You can choose to cosy up inside, or enjoy a late afternoon sundowner on the verandah while waiting for your food.
If you are waiting for your company or partner to arrive, or would just like to unwind before your meal, you can take a seat in our Victorian lounge and lose yourself in a good book or sip on your choice of drink to work up an appetite. We have various books available in the lounge at our guests’ disposal.
For groups larger that 20 people we are happy to organize a buffet for the occasion.
Smaller groups, however, can enjoy anything from our A la Carte menu.
If sitting down in a restaurant does not fancy you on the occasion, “Isbaya”, our local bar is your next stop. There you can enjoy some sport on the television and/or big screen while enjoying any meal from our menu, and wash it down with a cold drink. Enjoying a game of pool to settle your meal will end your evening on a high note for sure.
We are open for breakfast, lunch and supper; so do come join us anytime of the day for a lovely meal and a drink while overlooking Platrand Valley.

A garden wedding under African skies is a very popular option during summer time. The late African sunsets allows for beautiful colours, and the late afternoon sun lends a soft, golden shine to the whole valley. For photo opportunities, this is not only every photographer‘s dream, but also offers opportunities to create memories that will last you your whole life, and do justice to the occasion.
For your reception, our “Banket” hall is available, which can seat up to 250 people. Alternatively, the option for a garden reception is available. The “Banket” hall has several doors that open onto our generous, colonial style verandah. This makes it particularly ideal in summer, when the hall can get hot during big functions. It allows for guests to venture outside and stroll on our lawn, or just sit and relax on the verandah while chatting and sipping away at some drinks.
To spend your first night together, our Presidential Suite is available with all that is needed to make your wedding night as comfortable as possible. With complimentary Champagne, a queen size bed and luxury fit for a Royalty, your first night as husband and wife will be one to remember…
Here at Platrand Lodge we also cater for private functions such as birthdays, engagements or any sort of celebration that needs a great venue to make it memorable. For these special occasions, we usually use the “Banket” hall, as it seats approximately two hundred and fifty people.
This doesn’t mean it isn’t ideal for smaller, more intimate functions with only close family and friends. It can be set up to suit any event, from small and intimate to the grand occasion. All the catering and sound facilities are available at the “Banket” hall, making it ideal for these sort of occasions. The “Banket” hall has several doors that open onto our generous, colonial style verandah. This makes it particularly ideal in summer, when the hall can get hot during big functions. It allows for guests to venture outside and stroll on our lawn, or just sit and relax on the verandah while chatting and sipping away at some drinks.On the other side, the “Banket” hall opens into our local bar, “Isbaya”, where our friendly staff will welcome you and tend to your every need. We serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, making sure no-one goes thirsty.
Helena maria auditoruim
We do have the occasional late afternoon thunderstorm in the area, and if you are worried that it might have an impact on your wedding day, you can choose to tie the knot in our “Helena Maria Auditorium”. Although under a roof, the sides of the auditorium can be opened, still allowing for the feeling of openness, as if in nature.
If a thunderstorm does threaten, the sides can be closed in a flash, ensuring you and all your guests are warm and safe from the elements. With both these options you and your guests will be enjoying a fantastic vista of the Platrand Valley.
we have a smaller venue available for conferences with fewer delegates, aptly named The “Councillor”, which seats up to 25 people.
Once all the work is done, there is plenty to do in and around the Platrand Lodge. You can relax with your favourite drink on the veranda or in the garden, or if you still have energy left, going for a bike ride or a long walk in the veld are all things you can do unwind.
